On July 18, 2014 the United States Sentencing Commission unanimously recommended that the federal guideline drug table be reduced or lowered 2 levels. Congress must act on this proposal by November 1, 2014. Congress can accept, reject, or modify the proposal. Once November 1, 2014 arrives we will know what Congress did by this deadline. The current proposal would allow defendants currently serving a sentence based upon the drug type and weight to get a lower sentence.

The proposal prohibits any motions from being filed before November 1, 2014 because that is the deadline for Congress to act.
